Solving Shock Noise on Select Chrysler and Dodge Models
Challenge:
Reducing noise complaint comebacks when replacing shocks on certain Chrysler/Dodge models
Certain late-model Chrysler and Dodge vehicles include OE rear shocks that feature a plastic dust shield with a built-in, non-reusable lower retainer. Failure to include the retainer can cause the rubber portion of the mount to fail prematurely, leading to excessive noise and a reduction in service life. To help reduce comebacks due to noise complaints, Monroe® OESpectrum® premium replacement shocks feature a separate steel lower retainer that helps distribute pressure across the rubber mount.

Solution:
Use Replacement Parts as Directed
When aftermarket parts suppliers make adaptations to OE designs, often it is to improve quality, reduce complexity or incorporate the latest OE updates. In the case of these Chrysler and Dodge vehicles, Monroe OESpectrum replacement shocks feature a pre-assembled steel dust shield that offers increased durability and easier installation over the OE design – provided the lower retainer also is used.
Monroe OESpectrum replacement shocks are engineered and tested for specific applications. When installed correctly, they offer benefits such as improved stability and control while reducing noise, vibration and harshness. Automotive service providers should make a point to use all parts supplied with replacement shocks.
