DUST SHIELD
A protective cover that sits around the strut's oil seal and shields it from dirt, moisture and road grime.
Keeps contaminants out and hydraulic fluid in to ensure the internal components stay clean and the strut operates smoothly.
A durable, high-performing dust shield can extend service life and lower overall maintenance costs for vehicle owners.
Monroe uses thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) dust shields for its excellent oil resistance and ability to stay flexible at low temperatures, ensuring reliable protection in real-world driving conditions.
E-COATING
An advanced protective coating process where the part is fully submerged into a paint bath and an electric current draws charged paint particles evenly across every surface.
Creates a uniform, tightly bonded coating that reaches areas traditional spray painting can miss, helping protect the metal from moisture, road salt and everyday wear.
E-coating significantly reduces corrosion by resisting rust, chips and abrasion, resulting in a more durable, longer-lasting part.
Monroe uses a full-immersion e-coating process that wraps the coating around the entire part – including recessed and hard-to-reach areas – before curing it in an oven to form a tough, corrosion-resistant finish that outperforms conventional paint.
OUTER TUBE
The main tube of the strut, filled with hydraulic fluid and housing the internal components.
Provides the primary load-bearing support for the suspension, protects the internal cartridge and valving, and helps dissipate heat generated during operation.
A strong, properly engineered outer tube maintains structural integrity under constant stress, prevents deformation, and supports consistent damping performance over the life of the strut.

JOUNCE BUMPER
A key safety and comfort component positioned around the piston rod of the strut assembly.
Acts as a protective cushion when the suspension reaches the end of its compression travel. While the coil spring manages everyday impacts, the jounce bumper engages only during excessive compression, limiting extreme movement to protect the suspension, frame and internal strut components.
By absorbing harsh bottom-out forces, a quality jounce bumper helps prevent damage, reduces noise and vibration, and contributes to a smoother, more controlled ride.
