Why Quality Shocks
& Struts Matter

Why You Should Replace Air Shocks & Struts

Where Vehicle Control & Stability Begins

Quality shocks, struts and strut assemblies play a critical role in how a vehicle performs. They manage wheel control, stabilize the chassis, and keep tires planted on the road. When these components wear, stopping distances increase, steering response fades, and the vehicle becomes harder to keep stable over bumps and uneven surfaces. Quality ride control parts restore the precision the vehicle was designed for – consistent handling, confident braking, and predictable performance in real-world conditions. When shocks or struts need to be replaced, the choice you make matters. Ride control parts vary widely in design, materials, and validation – and those differences directly affect how the vehicle handles once it’s back on the road.

The Monroe Advantage:
Premium Parts, Proven Performance

Monroe shocks, struts and strut assemblies are engineered to perform in real-world conditions. Each component is built with quality materials, precise valving and validated designs that help restore stability, control, and predictable handling. It's a level of engineering that supports confidence in every replacement — whether you're maintaining your own vehicle or repairing one for someone else.

Each product in the Monroe lineup is purpose-built to deliver that level of performance. Below is a closer look at what each shock and strut is engineered to do.

  • MONROE QUICK-STRUT® ASSEMBLY

Featuring a vehicle-specific design, Quick-Strut assemblies are fit checked, ride tested and engineered to restore factory ride height and ride performance. They include all required components to complete a strut repair in a single, fully assembled unit.

  • MONROE OESPECTRUM® SHOCKS & STRUTS

Monroe OESpectrum® Shocks & Struts – Designed to restore a vehicle's original factory drivability and performance, OESpectrum shocks and struts feature application-specific technology to provide an exceptional level of handling, precision and control while filtering out noise, vibration and harshness.

  • MONROE OESPECTRUM SHOCK & MOUNT ASSEMBLY

An OESpectrum shock & mount assembly saves time with a fully preassembled upper mount, shock, compression bumper, and dirt shield. The all-in-one design removes the guesswork for fast, easy installation.

  • MONROE LOAD-ADJUSTING SHOCKS

Designed to reduce sag when loaded, Monroe load-adjusting shocks help support vehicles that carry changing loads or tow trailers up to 1,200 lbs. A heavy-gauge calibrated coil spring and single-groove pressure tube provide added performance and control.

  • MONROE MAGNUM® STRUT ASSEMBLY

For trucks and SUVs that tow and haul, complete Magnum strut assemblies uses application-specific damping and an upgraded coil spring to help support stable ride control and consistent vehicle stance.

  • MONROE GAS-MAGNUM® SHOCKS

Designed for midsize and full-size trucks and vans, Gas-Magnum shocks provide firm control while loaded. With up to twice the fluid capacity of standard 1" bore shocks, they work more efficiently with less effort.

  • MONROE MAX-AIR® SHOCKS

Ideal for maintaining level vehicle height for vehicles that consistently haul heavy loads or tow trailers, Max-Air shocks feature a large volume air chamber that inflates up to 150PSI when under load with additional 1,200 lbs.; it deflates for normal driving.

  • MONROE SUSPENSION CONVERSION KIT

Convert a vehicle's factory-equipped air, self-leveling or electronic suspension to a conventional suspension with a suspension conversion kit. Includes premium components – application-tuned conventional Monroe unit, coil spring(s) and hardware.

  • MONROE RESTORE™ SHOCKS

Designed to deliver consistent performance, Restore shocks provide a high level of handling and control while filtering out noise, vibration and harshness.

Monroe Warranty Support

Monroe backs its shocks and struts with a limited-lifetime warranty that reflects the brandˇs commitment to quality and long-term performance. This coverage gives technicians and drivers added confidence that Monroe shocks, struts and strut assemblies are built to last. Learn more on the Monroe warranty page.

Cost of Inferior Shocks & Struts

Inferior shocks and struts can compromise how a vehicle handles, brakes, and responds on the road. Poor-quality components may struggle to maintain tire contact, manage body motion, or control weight transfer which can lead to:

1
Reduced stability as the suspension struggles to manage body movement.
2
Longer stopping distances due to poor control of weight transfer.
3
Less predictable steering from inconsistent damping.
4
Increased tire wear caused by uneven road contact and reduced traction.
5
Added stress on suspension components as other parts compensate for poor damping.
6
Harsher, less controlled ride that affects comfort and confidence.
