TRACK CONTROL ARM REPLACEMENT
To replace a damaged track control arm, follow the procedure outlined in the manufacturer’s repair manual. In general, this can be summarised in the following steps:
1. Place the vehicle on the lift and remove the wheel.
2. Loosen the nut securing the track control arm to the knuckle joint and remove all parts that are attached to the track control arm (tie rods, shock absorbers, sway bar, etc.).
3. Using a suitable puller, release the ball joint cone from its housing in the steering knuckle and with the aid of a lever gently force the track control arm downward to remove it from its housing.
4. Remove the track control joints that are attached to the chassis so it can be removed.
5. The new track control arm is installed following the reverse process, paying particular attention to the torque specified by the manufacturer.
6. After finishing the installation, align the steering.
BUSH REPLACEMENT
To replace a track control arm’s rubber bushes, follow the specific procedure outlined in the manufacturer’s repair manual. In general, this can be summarised in the following steps:
1. Place the vehicle on the lift and remove the wheel.
2. Disassemble the track control arm.
3. Because the rubber bush was press-fitted into the track control arm, it will need to be removed with the aid of a suitable press.
4. Special attention should be paid to component markings when installing the new rubber bush. On some models, markings are used to specify mounting position (see the manufacturer’s instructions).
5. After finishing the installation, align the steering.
Attention: To avoid premature wear of new rubber bushes, all other bushes/elastic elements in the part should also be replaced.
