‘MYSHOCKS’ WEB SITE ENCOURAGES VEHICLE OWNERS TO BE AWARE OF UNDERCAR SERVICE NEEDS

Educational MyShocks.com Web Site to Teach Vehicle Owners About the Need for Safety Checks on Ride Control Components

Monroe, MI - Part of an industry-wide consumer awareness program, the new www.MyShocks.com web site is ready to help educate consumers about the role of ride control in daily driving and vehicle safety.

Developed as a key component of the Monroe shocks and struts brand’s “Safety Triangle” campaign, the MyShocks.com site emphasizes a 50,000-mile shock/strut replacement schedule* and the importance of frequently inspecting ride control components, both recommendations of leading car care organizations. The new site also features a fun consumer safety video about the importance of inspections on safety-critical chassis components and the role ride control components play in driving.

“As an industry, we’re educating consumers about the importance of monitoring key ride control components,” said Richard Alameddine, Vice President of Marketing, Tenneco. “Degradation occurs gradually and over thousands of miles depending on the vehicle owner’s style of driving and road conditions. This makes it increasingly difficult to recognize the negative effects – reduced steering precision, stopping performance and reduced vehicle stability. Ride control components play a unique role in steering, stopping and stability, and, most importantly, safety.”

Independently verified by the Motorist Assurance Program, the 50,000-mile replacement guideline and safety check can help technicians and consumers accurately diagnose the presence of worn ride control components to improve vehicle ride and handling and protect the integrity of Safety Triangle components.

The Safety Triangle is a system of interconnected components that enhance driving performance and safety through proper steering, stopping and stability characteristics. Components included in the Safety Triangle are tires, brakes, shocks, struts, and steering linkage and suspension parts. The presence of just one worn Safety Triangle component could jeopardize the driver’s ability to steer, stop and maintain stability under certain driving conditions.
