Campaign on ESPN ABC Radio Group’s "Dan Patrick Show," Major League Baseball Broadcasts to Highlight 50,000-Mile Shock/Strut Service Message
MONROE, MI - Monroe®, one of the world’s leading brands of replacement shock absorbers and struts, will take its 50,000-mile automotive ride control replacement recommendation to millions of consumers through a nearly year-long advertising campaign comprising hundreds of 30- and 60-second ads on more than 300 ESPN ABC Radio Group affiliates. The campaign will launch February 28 with spots broadcast during the popular "Dan Patrick Show" and also will include a continuing presence on broadcasts of 2005 Major League Baseball games.
Monroe® shocks and struts are manufactured and marketed by Tenneco Automotive (NYSE: TEN), a global supplier of original equipment and replacement components for passenger vehicles, commercial trucks and other applications.
The Monroe® campaign, which will include sponsorship of ESPN ABC Radio Group’s Major League Baseball pre-game show as well as more than 350 spots on the "Dan Patrick Show," will communicate the importance of replacing worn shocks and struts after 50,000* miles. Patrick also will include Monroe®-sponsored features, such as the "Shocking Moment of the Week," in his daily program.
Monroe® will place hundreds of additional "heavy-up" ad spots in 10 leading U.S. markets through the campaign’s extensive local activation component, which will include dealer-focused events and other brand-building activities.
"Many vehicle owners don’t realize that their vehicles’ steering, stopping and stability characteristics depend in part on fully functional shocks and struts. Shocks and struts do wear out, which is why Monroe® recommends replacement after 50,000 miles," said Richard Alameddine, vice president of marketing and engineering, North American Aftermarket, for Tenneco Automotive. "We’re confident millions of consumers will learn more about riding safe with Monroe® as they listen to ESPN programming throughout the year."
"We’re building on the Monroe® tradition of marketing leadership within the ride control category," Alameddine said. "No other brand has stepped forward to this extent to motivate consumers to request periodic ride control and undercar safety inspections. That’s why Monroe® continues to be the brand preferred by more automotive service providers."
